About the team

Career Sweden grew out of a simple need: clear guidance for people trying to build a life in Sweden. We dig up reliable answers, cut the jargon, and share what actually helps. One mission: make settling, working and studying here less confusing.

While guiding their non-Swedish friends and family through the process of settling down in Sweden, the founders of Career Sweden (formerly “The Newbie Guide to Sweden”) realized there was a lack of support for newbies in the public. Primarily because of language barriers but the scattered nature of the information was not making things any better!

So, the founders decided to bridge this information gap by offering guidance, easy to understand information and insider tips on one single platform. And thus with the hope of making immigration of Newbies to Sweden warmer and more conducive, the Newbie Guide to Sweden was born.

In 2024, The Newbie Guide to Sweden found a new home and new management with the recruitment company Incluso, and in 2025 was rebranded as “Career Sweden”.

DIGITAL PROJECT and MARKETING MANAGER

Maria Petrescu

Maria moved to Sweden in 2021 and currently lives in Gothenburg.
Born in Romania, but emigrated to Italy as a child, then to Sweden as an adult, she has first-hand knowledge of the challenges and difficulties of trying to adapt and integrate in a new country. Curiously, The Newbie Guide to Sweden was the very first resource she used when she arrived in the country, and has been an avid user of the platform ever since. Maria joined the Newbie Guide to Sweden in October 2024 thanks to this first-hand experience and her 12+ years of digital strategy under her belt. A chance for her to give back to the community, help and support new arrivals in Sweden.
