What you get from the mentoring program

As a part of Mitt Livs Chans mentoring program, it is the aim that you:

  • Receive support, advice and guidance from a mentor who is established in the Swedish labour market. We match mentees and mentors to the greatest extent possible based on educational background, industry/sector and experience.
  • Develop an expanded professional network through your mentor and the other participants in the program.
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the Swedish labour market and the job-seeking processes in this country.
  • Receive support and tools that help you refine your CV and cover letter and how you prepare for job interviews.

Who may apply to Mitt Livs chans mentoring program?

In order to be eligible for Mitt Livs Chans, you need to meet the following criteria:

  • You were born outside of Sweden, or you were born in Sweden but have two foreign-born parents.
  • You have completed a post-secondary course of education.
  • You don’t have a job that matches your qualifications, and you are an active job seeker.
  • You live in Sweden.
  • You have a work permit in Sweden (or you are a EU citizen).
  • You can communicate freely in Swedish or English.

Structure of the program

Mitt Livs Chans offers two programs per year – one during the autumn and one during the spring. Each program lasts for 4 months, and participation entails a commitment of around 10 hours in total. Since you participate digitally, you are welcome to apply regardless of where you live in Sweden. We offer meetings in both Swedish and English. During the program you are expected to meet with your mentor on at least four occasions, and you are responsible for booking these meetings yourselves.

We match mentees and mentors to the greatest extent possible based on educational background, industry/sector and experience. As a mentee you also take part in the program’s joint meetings, where you have the opportunity to meet other mentors and mentees for networking purposes, and to gain more in-depth knowledge about the Swedish labour market.
