Saving 1 krona per item adds up. If you buy many items and save 1 krona per item it can save you 1,000 or 10,000 kr, or even more per year. This is money you can use for a great trip or whatever you want to do with it while living cheaply in Sweden.
So let’s start with my first piece of advice.
Today I will recommend cheap grocery stores! There are many food stores in Sweden, for example, ICA, Hemköp and Coop. I find that the prices at these stores are often high, which makes it harder to focus on living cheaply in Sweden. So I’d like to recommend stores that are cheaper such as Lidl and Willys. In my opinion, they are also of very good quality! But where are these shops located? They are easy to find, just check their websites or download their apps on your smartphone.
Here are the shop websites
- LIDL (has an app)
- Willys (has an app
Don’t forget to download the store apps too because weekly deals play a big role in living cheaply in Sweden. If you don’t like to have too many apps on your smartphone, I would recommend the app Matpriskollen – however, the app is in Swedish. But if you can read some Swedish (or if you want to practice) this app shows you the weekly deals from the store of your choice.
This is my small piece of advice about food stores and living cheaply in Sweden. Next time I will write about more ways to save money so follow for more advice.
See you soon! Bye for now

Willys is not cheap anymore , You forgot Netto .
Oop! Yes I do forgot Netto. Hope Netto will open more store in Stockholm. Thany you for comment. 🙂 🙂
Willys is good value and their cheapest brand products (Eldorado & Garant) are much better quality than the ‘value’ brands in the UK which are all offcuts, water and floor sweepings… I think looking in the free advert papers for deals of the week is helpful too, and joining free loyalty schemes like Willys+. Looking forward to more tips 🙂
Local Asian and Arab grocery stores and Frukt & Grönt Hallen have much better prices than chains for food, while toilet paper, household cleaner, etc. Is cheapest at Rusta, Lidl, and ÖöB.
